Comparison of Orthomol Natal® 1 with amitamin® fertil F phase 1 and phase 2
Orthomol® offers Orthomol Natal®, a product that is intended for the entire period from the desire to have children to the end of the breastfeeding period.
Orthomol Natal® contains vitamins D, E, K, C, B1, B2, niacin, B6, folic acid, B12, biotin and pantothenic acid.
It contains the minerals and trace elements calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, selenium, chromium, molybdenum and iodine.
It also contains beta-carotene, omega-3 DHA and EPA and lactic acid bacteria cultures.
Orthomol Natal® is available in two forms: either as a combination of sachets with granules for dissolving and three additional tablets.
Or as a pure capsule and tablet form – with 5 tablets and 3 capsules to be taken daily. The composition of Orthomol Natal® is best compared with the alternative amitamin® fertil F phase 2.
amitamin® fertil F phase 1 is a dietary supplement for the period from baby planning / desire to have children to the end of the third month / 12th week.
Unlike femibion® 0 and 1, you do not have to change the product when pregnancy is established. In addition to 800 µg folate as folic acid (400 µg) and bioactive folate Quatrefolic® (400 µg), amitamin® fertil F phase 1 contains 11 other vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, biotin, niacin, pantothenic acid, C, D, E) and 8 trace elements and minerals (calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, selenium, manganese and iodine).
All active ingredients are contained in the recommended daily dose of 1 capsule.
Below you can see a detailed comparison of the ingredients (click to enlarge if necessary):
Bioactive folate – that’s why it’s so important!
amitamin® fertil F phase 1 and 2 contain bioactive folate Quatrefolic®the most modern folate available.
Unlike synthetic folic acid (chem.: pteroylmonoglutamic acid), which is often used, the bioactive folate Quatrefolic® can be used directly by the body without further metabolic processes.
Synthetic folic acid cannot be utilized at all by some women and has no effect on the folate level in the blood. This is why it is so important to pay particular attention to the folate form when supplementing food for pregnant women!
The alternatives Elevit® 2, femibion® 2, Orthomol Natal® and amitamin® fertil F phase 2 in comparison
amitamin® fertil F phase 2 is a dietary supplement for the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It should be changed from fertil F phase 1 to phase 2 in the twelfth week at the latest in order to supplement omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA and to adjust the dosage.
However, you can also start with amitamin® fertil F phase 2 at the time you wish to have children. In addition to 600 µg folate as folic acid (300 µg) and bioactive folate Quatrefolic® (300 µg), amitamin® fertil F phase 2 contains 11 other vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, biotin, niacin, pantothenic acid, C, D, E) and 8 trace elements and minerals (calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, selenium, manganese and iodine).

Comparison of femibion® without iodine and amitamin® fertil F – a good alternative?
Anyone looking for femibion® without iodine will probably have an iodine allergy.
For a few diseases, such as Hashimoto’s thyrioiditis, it may also be advisable not to take additional iodine. Iodine is a trace element that is important for hormone production in the thyroid gland.
It contributes to normal brain function and is important for normal nerve function and energy metabolism.
The DGE generally recommends an intake of 200 µg iodine daily, 230 µg daily for pregnant women and even 260 µg iodine per day during breastfeeding.
Iodine deficiency in Germany
Unfortunately, our diet is generally very low in iodine.
A large systematic study of the nutritional quality of Germans (the National Consumption Study II) found that over 97% of people who do not use iodized table salt have an iodine deficiency.
Even among women who use iodized table salt for cooking and seasoning, around two thirds do not consume enough iodine.
For those who cannot take iodine in the form of a dietary supplement for medical reasons, amitamin® fertil F is not an alternative to femibion® without iodine.
amitamin® fertil F phase 1 and 2 both contain the important trace element iodine.
There is (currently) no iodine-free variant.
amitamin® fertil F phase 1 contains 150 µg iodine per daily dose (1 capsule), amitamin® fertil F phase 2 contains 200 µg iodine per daily dose (4 capsules), adapted to pregnancy and breastfeeding. Note: Status of the comparison August 2018
